Slaughter Stream Cave is one of the finest systems in the UK. At over 14km in length, it is longest cave formed in dolomite, and the 10th longest cave in the country. It has a wide variety of passages, unique formations, fossils, and the infamous ‘Norman’ skeleton (presumed to be remains of a dog), deep within the system. Until very recently, it had a single entrance known as Wet Sink, giving it the title of "Longest British cave with a single entrance". However, with the recent connection of Kiln Piece Hole, this is no longer the case.
There is sometimes confusion over the name of the cave. The cave system is called Slaughter Stream Cave and Wet Sink is an entrance into the system.
